I have lived in Dundee for 10 years now! Due to struggling with mental health i haven't really lived here. I lived inside my home only venturing out if it was completely necessary. I know i was missing out on something spectacular and what brings thousands of people move here every day! Dundee is so big and bustling for someone like me who can get extremely overwhelmed sometimes.
The towering buildings and the busy noisy streets.
The only way i know i could beat the fear of being out and part of this big city is to get myself out there. So i started to walk...…..
I took the first step to fixing my mental health and i took back control. I stepped outside my door into the open air where the smell of fresh flowers and the bakery down the street wafted by. I was proud even in my first few steps. I discovered so much just by walking down the street. I opened my mind to the road in front of me. I opened my mind to being able to take in every home and every person who passed me. I wasn't scared. As the days passed. The road became longer. The road became different. But it also became easy. The breaths i was taking was longer.
I wanted to document this feeling. I wanted show my growth in every step i took. Everyday i change my route and everyday i was finding something new. I want to make sure that i use everything i see as a check point in the road to recovery. Walking around Dundee and discovering the city which I've resided in for 10 years but never really seen. Even if it was someone's

garden or an old rusty building, cars or rubbish in the road. This is what makes our town. This is what we should show because that is what we see.
Sometimes you don't see things until you really look.
